Downtown
Savannah’s “downtown” comprises two primary regions:
- National Landmark Historic District
- The National Landmark Historic District is a 1 square-mile area bordered by the Savannah River to the North and Forsyth Park to the South. This area contains a wide variety of real estate ranging from urban loft condos, commercial retail and office spaces, historic townhomes, and stately mansions.
- Victorian District
- Savannah’s Victorian District is made up of approximately 50 neighborhood blocks that encircle Forsyth Park and that comprise Savannah’s first “suburb.” Unlike the majority brick construction found in the historic district, the post-Civil War construction found in the Victorian District is primarily wooden, in distinctive Victorian style with large porches, bright colors, and unique trim details. The district is mostly residential with a small smattering of businesses, churches and offices scattered around major thoroughfares.
